from pukhto poetry...

Oos pa khawro badawalo kai maza da
Ka har so da ishq mazal rata yaw gaam sho

Ab mitti uchalnai mai hi maza araha hai. Garchai jitna b ta ishq ka safar merai leye chand hi qadam niklai

Quit in despair!

The world won’t care if you quit
And the world won’t whine if you fail;
The busy world won’t notice it
No matter how loudly you wail.

Nobody will worry that you
Have relinquished the fight and gone down
For it’s only the things that you do
That are worth while and get your renown.

The quitters are quickly forgot;
Of them the world spends little time;
And a few e’er care that you’ve not
The courage or patience to climb.

So give up and quit in despair
And take your place back on the shelf;
But don’t think the world’s going to care;
You are injuring only yourself.

Am I a Builder?

I watched them tearing a building down,
A gang of men in a busy town.
With a ho-heave-ho and a lusty yell
They swung a beam, and the side wall fell,
I asked the foreman, "Are these men skilled,
And the men you'd hire if you had to build?"

He gave a laugh and said: "No indeed!
Just common labor is all I need.
I can easily wreck in a day or two
What builders have taken a year to do."
And I thought to myself as I went away,
Which of these roles have I tried to play?

Am I a builder who works with care,
Measuring life by the rule and square?
Am I shaping my deeds to a well-made plan,
Patiently doing the best I can?
Or am I a wrecker, who walks the town
Content with the labor of tearing down?

THANK GOD !!!

Thank God for life!
E’en though it bring much bitterness and strife,
And all our fairest hopes be wrecked and lost,
E’en though there be more ill than good in life,
We cling to life and reckon not the cost.
Thank God for life!

Thank God for love!
For though sometimes grief follows in its wake,
Still we forget love’s sorrow in love’s joy,
And cherish tears with smiles for love’s dear sake;
Only in heaven is bliss without alloy.
Thank God for love!

Thank God for pain!
No tear hath ever yet been shed in vain,
And in the end each sorrowing heart shall find
No curse, but blessings in the hand of pain;
Even when he smiteth, then is God most kind,
Thank God for pain!

Thank God for death!
Who touches anguished lips and stills their breath
And giveth peace unto each troubled breast;
Grief flows before thy touch, O blessed death;
God’s sweetest gift, thy name in heaven is Rest.
Thank God for death!

kuch ghubarai kuch khilonai

Dhoondna chahai thai zindagi mai kuch apnai
Mil na saka koi bhi yahan magar chand sapnai

Qusur hoga khud apni hi zaat ka ismai
Ya qismet mai likhai hain abhi awr sadmai

Kett jaein gai din yunhi iss kuttiya mai
Umer tou ik guzaarni hai hans k chahai ro kai

Rishtoan sai paaey hain hamesha sirf dhokai
Sathi hain bes kuch ghubarai kuch khilonai

SEB MAYA HAI

sub maya he, sub dhalti phirti chaya he,
is ishq mein hum ne jo khoya jo paya he,
jo tum ne kaha he, Faiz ne jo farmaya he,
Sub maya he
jis gori per hum ek ghazal her shaam likhen,
tum jaantay ho hum kyunker us ka naam likhen,
dil us ki bhi chokhat choom ke wapis aya he,
Sub maya he,
woh larki bhi chaand nagar ki rani thee,
woh jis ki alhar aankhon mein herani thee,
aaj us ne bhi paigham yehi pohnchaya he,
Sub maya he,
jo log abhi tak naam wafa ka laitay hein,
woh jaan ke dhokay khatay hein dhokay detay hein,
haan thok baja ker hum ne jo hukum lagaya he,
Sub maya he,
jab dekh liya her shakhs yahan herjai he,
is shehar se door ek kutya hum ne banaye he,
or us kutya ke maathay per likhwaya he,
Sub maya he.
